Dandy Warhols News and Rumors Archive - April 2002

April 30, 2002 - 2 shows added
While it hasn't been announced yet on the official site, fresh off the heels of show info being released for June and July, 2 new dates have been added: Reading Festival (Aug 23) and the Leeds Festival (Aug 24). Tickets are on sale now, and is linked from the Tour Menu page.

April 27, 2002 - Lots of updates
Sorry for the site being down for so long. And at a time when there is a lot of news about the band as well. Oh well, lets see if we can all play catch-up.

First, Dandywarhols.com has been a great source of information lately. To run down what has been added:
Recordings from Peters solo project, Hotel Eden
Upcoming concert listings (13 shows from the end of June to the end of July).
News on who is appearing on the new album.
Various other small updates.
I THINK some new videos, but I will have to double-check on that.

That has translated into a lot of new stuff to post here. First, I have added a new section to the menu, which is dedicated to tour information. It should be up to date, and I hope to have each show put into the gigography as soon after it is over as I can. There have been 4 new albums (compilations) added to the discography, and one new song added to the song listings. Beyond those, there have been the regular small updates.

The band appeare in a photoshoot for FHM Collections magazine, and thanks to K.Andy at the Dandysrule2 mailing list, we have them.

April 14, 2002 - Upcoming concert;dandywarhols.com updates
Thanks to Keith at Dandysrule2, the following note from a CDNOW newsletter came out:

"David Bowie has invited the Dandy Warhols to co-headline the closing night of Meltdown 2002 on June 29 in London. The two are expected to perform a special encore together."

This will be the culmination of an approximately 2 week festival put together by David Bowie (each year someone different puts it together, and Bowie is this years choice). No word on other acts or ticket sales yet.

Over at dandywarhols.com, it has been another round of updates. There is a new MP3 for download (from the Black Album, "Alien". It is sung by a woman named DeeDee.), 5 or so pictures of Peter as a child in his area, and a new color scheme for the site. Also, there is another maybe-new video clip, titled Raindrops. It might not be new, but I hadn't ever seen it before.

April 12, 2002 - New Song Title for Album 4;Watercooler Diaries 2
Not sure when this will get posted, as slabtown.net is currently down (again). Fuckers. Anyway...

Got word that another new song from the next album is called "Used To Be Friends". Also got word on a few new names involved in the making of the album. Go into the Album 4 News section for more. I'm too lazy to retype it all here again.

Over at
dandywarhols.com, the Gothman has uploaded two new videos. One is "THE WATERCOOLER DIARIES EPISODE II: ATTACK OF THE STONED" and the other is a mini-tour of the new studio. Both can be found in the video section over there.

April 8, 2002 - New slabtown.net section
Another piece of news that fits in both the news section and site update...

A new section has been opened on the site, as there is now a seperate page for the new album, dubbed "Album 4 updates". This will be a place to gather all information on the new album as it comes available. There are actually two seperate sections in the area: news and summary. The news page will be run much like this page, with new information being added as it comes in. The summary page is a sorted page of known news and rumors, so that you don't have to go back through the news to find something.

April 7, 2002 - Dandywarhols.com updates again, with a new mp3
Well, I missed this one the first time through myself, but thanks to Luc, from the Dandysrule2 mailinglist, I now know...

The MP3 that you can download from dandywarhols.com now is White Gold, from the Black Album, replacing Crack Cocaine Rager. While I think that White Gold has been downloadable before from dandywarhols.com, this is a chance to get another track towards building your own Black Album without ever buying a single CD. But you'd have to be a dipshit to not want to buy them anyway.

April 6, 2002 - Dandywarhols.com updates
Sean has just been on a tear over at the official site lately! Unfortunately (for me), this new update cuts off something I wanted to add to slabtown.net for a while now, but haven't had a chance to due to my constant struggles to just keep the damn thing online. dandywarhols.com has a new section up now, called "Green Area." Currently it includes two desktop images (in 6 sizes each), 4 Aol Instant Messenger icon pictures and a link to search for cell phone ringtones. The selection is slim for now, but it looks to be a cool place in the future for some fun items. Hopefully sometime soon, I will be adding my own versions of these same things to this site.

Oh, one other small change also is that the photo that is used for the menu screen at Courtneys section of the site, it is a different picture then before. It is now one of the "Evelyn pictures" taken at Londons Brixton Academy in June 2001.

April 5, 2002 - pictures
With my recent updates, I forgot to mention a few other items of interest, photo-wise.

Over on dandywarhols.com, Sean has added almost 100 new pictures, all from Europe in 2000-2001. There are some pretty good, very candid ones.

Peter on the dandysrule2 mailing list mentions that there is an 8 page picture spread in the current issue of FHM Collections magazine. I haven't seen the pictures, but hope to soon.

April 4, 2002 - Black Album
This is more along the lines of something I would put in the site update section, but considering the topic, I figured I would also say it on here. I finally have gotten a list of the real names of the songs on the Black Album. Some surprising things in it. Well, surprising in regards to what some of the real song titles are. Check it out when you get a chance.
