This song, and more specifically the methaphoric line "I must have a door in the back of my head," was written by Courtney about a friend who "had a really great life but was so emotionally distraught and such a complete alcoholic that he was unable to see what he had." Feeling sad for his friend to not see what he had, Courtney wrote this song for him.
Solid appeared very briefly in the 2001 movie "The Fluffer," which was a comedy about the porn industry.
