the start of my east coast dandy road trip was fabulous. a big shout out to my sugar mama jennifer, who made this whole trip happen. driving into the city is always fun, and jennifer and i made our way to the irving with no problems. even though i had not driven in the city for over a decade, i had map quest to find me a free parking spot 1 block from the irving. we walked around a few blocks and made our way to the irving. it was a different crowd than the bowery show we went to earler this year. this was an all ages show, and the bowery was 21+. the irving is larger, and was starting to get filled up. i saw the dandys wandering around before the show, and schmoozing in a roped off vip area. i also met a couple of dandy fans who have travelled cross country to see a show. they had gone west to see the dandys in portland this summer. it is good to know there are fellow fans who are just as obsessive as i am about the dandys. it was quite packed, and i did not get to be as close as i would have liked. but that did not stop me from enjoying my 3rd dandy show of the year. brent had a few kidney stones removed the week before, and they had to cancel a few shows. this was his second show back, and you could see the pain he was in as he played. as a result the set was short but sweet. the show itself was a visual overload, of a full on dandys nyc experience. it is surreal to see them smack dab in the middle of the hip capitol of the world. so many types of people all there to have a dandy time. the cooler than thou scene kind of reminded my why i moved west in the first place. then again it was the cooler than thou scene in portland that promted me to move to the oregon coast. lol. anyway the crowd kind of stood there and looked funny at any people that danced. i did not care and started to sway, at the first sign of be-in. after the show i was drained. even though it was a short set, it was vintage dandys. a good mixture of new, and old stuff. it was a great
