Two potential schools of thought here. A laidback and pretty stoner rock vibe is perfect for a sunny Summer afternoon on the Main Stage or could it be there's a pervasive sense of ennui because the Dandy Warhols have been hauling the dead gee-gee of 'Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia' around for just a wee bit too long.
The latter would be far too cynical, so we're plumping for the former. There's a lot of folk down here to see "that one off the advert" though - an affliction that seems to haunt certain bands. Sure enough 'Bohemian Like You' gets a stonking response. Potential for haunting or not, that song has proved a good bit of business: having thirty-something accountants singing along at festivals completely missing the irony and making pots of cash to boot!
The new found fans aren't quite as au fait with 'Everyday Should Be a Holiday' and 'Not If You Were The Last Junkie on Earth' but the real kids down the front are and they lap them up.
"Do you guys drink beer here?" Asks Courtney with visible amusement. "I'm not an acoholic OK, I'm just really enjoying a beer here... I don't have a problem... f***ing good beer, dude!" The sponsors rub their hands with glee. Anyway, begone Mr Celeb endorsement, off to the studio with you...do not pass go, do not collect $200 and under no circumstances stop off at the bar!
