at the Bowery Ballroom
By Peter J. Daley, Jr.

during my vacation back east, i was able to plan it around the dandys nyc show. i wanted to make it to more shows that week, but i had the macworld expo, and family stuff crammed into this week. i decided on the bowery show and asked a friend to get tix. she was unable to get tix before we made the trip into the city. my day was spent at the mac world expo. i had fun surrounded by macs, playing and people watching all day. i checked in on directions to the ballroom from the expo. it was my second day of the expo and i was getting excited for the show. jennifer met me after work at the expo center and we made our way to the village. as we are walking up to the bowery, we hear the show is sold out. before i have a chance to explode at my friend, someone offers to sell me his tix, because he can not attend. quicker than a dandy fan in july, i gave him $30, and because he used his cc, there was no actual ticket, but i did not have to pay ticket whore charges. praise to the goddess! the bowery was a small place with a bar downstairs, and the stage and bar upstairs. no photo or security pit, i was able to get into my favorite spot between zia and courtney. the crowd was hyped and read for some dandy action. when rick bain and the genius position took the stage, i fell in love. the dandys brought them along from portland, and and shared this yummy pop with the rest of the world. their set was amazing! check them out if you get the chance. you can pick up their cd @ rickbain.com the crowd showed their love for bain. what a great nyc debut for the band. in between sets the crowd was energetic. there was a nice smokey haze to the place, and people were happy, and ready for a dandy experience. when they took to the stage and started be - in, i was transported to a dandy place. the whole night was a mix of star whorship and complete love. during the show, i was struck by the crowd. it seemed everyone there knew the w
