In a world where members of Boyzone talk about drugs to give their solo singles a frisson of dangerous credibility, the whole concept of rock'n'roll behaviour has become debased. Funnily enough, that's just the way the Dandy Warhols like it.
Because if anyone lives the life, it's these four fuzzy-haired, hig-rolling, flesh-flashing bohos from Portland, Oregon. They know what they want from the rock'n'roll dream and, even if it means dressing up as hypodermic needles for the video to "Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth", they chase it hard.
Luckily though, such hedonistic pursuits are backed up with the tunes to left them above and beyond boorish cliché. They've just added more, too, with the release of new single "Get Off", and it's attendant whip cracks, country stomping and peerlessly storied pop tune, and their third album, "Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia". It's a melange of rock, pop and psychedelia, overlaid with a sheen of harmonies, and it's magnificent enough to mean you should definitely check out the freakshow as it rolls into town. Just don't be tempted to join in with the party - compared to The Dandy Warhols, you're undoubtedly a lightweight.
