Remember the Dandy Warhols? Rather not? But they're such super cool doods! They were the faves of the British press kind of like the Strokes/White Stripes/Hives are now, but way back in 2000. Lucky you, they're dragging out the pain once again, recording a follow-up to Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia. That record, having raised their celebrity in England (if nowhere else), allowed them to rope some high-level 'musical geniuses' for their as yet untitled LP. These geniuses include David Bowie and longtime collaborator Tony Visconti, not to mention Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran fame. Not to mention, indeed!
But they won't cry for yesterday, when they first worked with Visconti on their reworking of Neil Young's "Ohio." And who can forget the Dandys' 1997 track "Every Day Should Be a Holiday," which featured a blatant rip-off-- er, homage to-- the vocal melody from Duran Duran's "Hungry Like the Wolf"? No word yet on how the recording process is moving along or what the new material sounds like, but the Dandys have never strayed too far from the dirty, drug-addled side of rock'n'roll. The band has also lined up summer tour dates for Europe and you lucky bastards in Portland. Expect a full U.S. tour after they finish up the album, or whenever they damn well feel like it.
