The Dandy Warhols have gone back to their roots for their latest album ‘Odditorium And The Warlords Of Mars’.

The band have just finished mixing and mastering their fith album, and after their more experimental last album - 2003’s ‘Welcome To The Monkeyhouse’ - the Portland four-piece have gone back to the sound of their earlier releases.

Guitarist Peter Holmstrom told NME: “It’s definitely been a progression for the band. Sound-wise, it sounds like (1997’s) ‘Dandy Warhols Come Down’ and (2000’s) ‘Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia’. It was the record we’ve felt most confident making.”

Released on September 12 and preceded by the first single ‘Smoke It’ on July 4, Holmstrom has described the sound of the record as “half trippy, half rock”.

“Fans will be very pleased with it,” he said. “It’s a Dandy Warhols record! Some songs you’ve heard them a hundred times, but there are a few little tricks in there. We weren’t trying to break new ground - making this was the most natural thing.”
