The Verdict:
Started out doing Brit-pop better than the Brits, now they're coming into their own.

The Band
The band slid nicely in on the Brit-pop wave and quickly became a fixture on the local music scene in the early '90s. After releasing "Dandy's Rule OK?" on Portland's Tim/Kerr label, a national bidding war ensued and the band settled into a contract with Capitol. Their latest release, "Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia" is garnering a lot of attention. Notoriously arrogant, the Dandy Warhols have a great gift for portraying the personalities of the rock world they haunt; they're detached and insightful, making for a memorable and intense listening experience.

Tip Sheet:
One of Portland's Best

In Their Own Words:
"It's like a big mattress moving at 80 miles an hour, kind of crushed-out and comfortable, with some velocity." —Courtney Taylor on the band's sound.
