Dandy Warhols News and Rumors Archive - June 2002

June 27, 2002 - Glasto livecast
As I posted on the front page of slabtown.net (though it might be down by the time you read this), I got word today that the Dandy Warhols performance at Glastonbury will be livecast with both audio and video. The address will be: http://glastonbury.playlouder.com .

A VERY big thanks to Melissa at playlouder.com for the heads-up on this.

June 23, 2002 - Europe round of shows.
As I write this, the Dandy Warhols a few minutes ago ended their set at the Steelworx Festival, which is the first show of 15 in 21 days, followed by an over 1 month break and then another week of shows in late August. Unless there is specific news about a show, I won't be updating the news page when each show completes or happens. Just keep checking the site update for when the show is added to the gigography and the Upcoming Concerts list for, well, upcoming concerts.

June 20, 2002 - Anniversary;Lack of updates.
I have really been flaking off this week. I have a lot of information about Album 4 that I need to update with, but I just don't feel like it right now. I decided earlier this wewek to just spend a few days and get good and drunk instead of doing anything else for 2 days.

One small piece of information is that today, June 20th, is the 8th anniversary of Zia's first show with the band.

And, if anyone goes to any of the shows on the European tour (the list of what shows they are playing is in the "upcoming concerts" section), or just live close to where they will be, I would love to get reviews and articles about the shows.

June 19, 2002 - Song title changed/given.
slabtown.net has learned though sources that the song that was formally listed as "Downtown" on the site, and often assumed to be the "House Of Yes" project, is actually something else really close in name, with "I Dream Of Yes."

Look for Used To Be Friends to be the first single.

June 16, 2002 - Rumors on possible "Album 4" titles.
Word came to me a few days ago on three possible titles for the new album. Keep in mind it is really early still:

101010 - Binary for 42, which is a reference to The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy.
That's What It's All About - last line of the hokey pokey song.
We Are All Freaks - Just an obscure title by Courtney.

More info in the Album 4 section.
June 13, 2002 - New Downloads at the official site.
As I was preparing to go take a nap, I stopped by the official ssite, and in the mp3 section, they have 10 songs you can download. All of them are "unreleased" and a great chance to fill in holes in your collection. The songs for download are:
From The Black Album:
Head
CCR
White Gold
The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald

Other:
One
Free For All
Kinky
Phone Call
Retarded
Dub Song

June 13, 2002 - Surprise show
Last night in Portland, The Dandy Warhols played a surprise show under one of their alternate names (Fags Like Us). Sorry I couldn't tell anyone about it, since for once I kept a secret. There will be a review later today.

Update: The review has been added: June 12, 2002.

June 12, 2002 - Crystal Ballroom show;Fun and games downunder
Tomorrow, June 13th, is the Dandy Warhols show in their hometown of Portland, Oregon, and slabtown.net will be there (doesn't that sound lame, considering that "slabtown.net" is only one person at this time?). If you are 21 and over, before the show I'll be down in the bar below the club around 6 until 8 or so I suppose, when I'll head up to the show. I'll probably be sitting at the bar, but just look for someone in a maroon longsleeved shirtjackethingie. stop by.

Got word on the dandysrule2 mailing list about a humorous contest taking place down in Austalia on radio station Triple J. The guys on their morning show, Adam and Will will attend a strangers wedding, or other type of gathering, as long as there is a "big band" playing. Once there, they will sing "Get Off" with the big band playing.

Apparently, if you're an Aussie, you can enter at their website (http://triplej.abc.net.au/), but I couldn't find anything about it. Then again, I didn't look for long.

June 2, 2002 - Happy Birthday, Zia
Today is Zia McCabe's 27th birthday, and Slabtown.net would like to wish her the best of birthdays. As you might have seen, the front page has a graphic of her to commemorate the day. I'll probably take it down in a few days.
