Recycling music from the seventies seems to be a lucrative business. However, there are two ways of doing it: you can just literally copy the songs or you can do something different with them. The problem with The Dandy Warhols is that I can't figure out in which category they are situated. Sometimes I think I'm listening to the Velvet Underground (Lou Weed for example) but on the other hand the Dandys' sound very contemporary with a seventies edge (Nothin' to do). Maybe that's the reason why I like this band so much, you hear sounds of the past but they do not disturb you: it's not so obvious and serious as Lenny Kravitz does it. The coffee and tea wrecks and Nothing are very British songs, Genius is a very nice and sweet song and Grunge Betty is a typical sixties garage song. I hope the Dandys will visit Europe soon cause I can't wait to see them and neither can you!
