Bohemian Like You

Sometimes you have to sell your soul to the devil in order to taste success. In The Dandy Warhols' case, Lucifer - in the form of a corporate ad campaign - is providing the platform for the band to rise out of the indie basement into the mainstream pop penthouse. In this case however, it's a pleasure to see a track like Bohemian Like You get a second deserved airing.

Originally released last year and reaching no. 42, this is now THE song of the worldwide Vodaphone promotion and is getting heavy primetime rotation. A Brown Sugar guitar riff, 'woo hoo hoo' backing vocals and oh-so-wry lyrics from laconic frontman Courtney Taylor-Taylor (ha - bet that's not what his parents call him!) make this a defining Dandy Warhols moment. You can't argue with a band who affectionately rip the Michael out of a boho scene they so cooly and wholeheartedly inhabit. If a Hal Hartley movie were a band, this would be it. This is party choonage par excellence. Like wow groovy.
