Una canción del 2000 recuperada por un spot televisivo convierte a 'Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia' en el álbum de rock mas excitante en estas fechas. 'Bohemian Like You', la "stoniana" canción de marras, es tan solo uno gancho en el espléndido tercer álbum del cuarteto de Oregón.
Acordes de acústica a lo 'My Sweet Lord' de Harrison y una trompeta da comienzo al disco neo psicodélico más interesante de la costa oeste americana. Las referencias del rock que desgranan The Dandy Warhols recorren un amplio espectro que va desde los Rolling Stones a la Velvet Underground de los sesenta y The Feelies, ya en los ochenta.
Pero la ventaja de la banda liderada por Courtney Taylor-Taylor es que parecen actuar como si no lo supieran , o dicho de otro modo son frescos, una escasa virtud entre las bandas de rock de última generación. Esa es la lectura que hay que aplicar a 'Solid', 'Horse Pills', 'Cool Scene' , todos ellos temas imponentes para escuchar sin prejuicios comparativos.
Divertidos en 'Get Off' a modo de "spaghetti rock western", en la "folkie" 'Sleep', muestran que las armonías vocales es una de sus bazas mas fuertes. 'Shakin' es el corte del disco más rico en recursos musicales. En él se mezclan el punk de unos Stranglers y el 'Heroes' de Bowie, más los scratches de DJ Swamp.'Bohemian Like You' escarba en el 'Brown Sugar' de los Rolling Stones y, lejos de resultar revenida, enciende en las tripas chispas de alegría.
