The Brian Jonestown Massacre - focused Dig! saw the Dandy Warhols portrayed as calculated careerists. But while frontman Courtney Taylor is no Anton Newcombe, what sets him apart is that, as a songwriter, he's got great touch. Whether it's on the impassioned wafts of "Love Is the New Feel Aweful" or the loosely swaggering Stones rave-up "All the Money or the Simple Life Honey", the songs on Odditorium are always memorable. But will Odditorium send the Dandy Warhols into the big leagues? Unlikely - it's too deliberately obtuse for that. It's also, arguably, the band's best record yet. Archly humerous, this is the Dandy Warhols as you've always wanted them to be: awesomely funky, insatiably groovy and very, very cool.
