Puncture's Little Drummer Boy review

Puncture
Little Drummer Boy
by Jean Debbs
Issue #32, Spring 1995

If you ignore this Portland band's debut because it includes yet another remake of the most execreable Xmas ditty of all, you'll miss the fabulous bassy, etheral, griding drone of "Dick." And if you're put off by the way the start of "(It Doesn't Take A) Genius" reprises a vocal technique poineered (is that the right word?) by Ringo on "Yellow Submarine," albeit with "Pale Blue Eyes" guitar, then you'll miss the song's gradual explosion into joyful, full-throated self-abuse. But even if this disk passes you by, the Dandy Warhols will catch up woth you soon enough, I'll wager.
