Something beautiful is going on in alternative rock. Bands like Radiohead, the Verve and Spiritualized have brought down the noise on recent releases, embracing delicate, almost surreal sonics. Now the Dandy Warhols, of Portland, Ore., are wallowing in chilled-out sounds on their major-label debut. Not that Come Down is just a soothing snoozefest. “I Love You,” with its wall of psychedelic tremolo, is movingly tender, and “Every Day Should Be A Holiday” drifts along on a little puffy cloud of gauzy harmonies and chugging guitars. But a subtle undercurrent of foreboding boots this dream pop up, up and away. (Capitol)
