The Dandy Warhols are a band out of Portland, Oregon. The band consists of Courtney Taylor (lead vocals and guitar), Zia McAbe (bass and percussion), Eric Hedford (drums, vocals, and synthesizers), and Peter Holstrom (guitars).

One of their promotional photographs shows The Dandy Warhols standing around in full British Invasion regalia - black furry coats and hair rakishly hanging in thier eyes. Courtney even sports a knowing sneer, a la Mick Jagger. In fact, the whole British pop thang dominates the album.

Musically, ther isn't much to the lyrics. Every song has an upbeat tempo with a happy, post-Beatles sheen. This is fine except the disk is 74 minutes long. At that length, even the most promising idea can get old. The last three songs are "It's A Fast-Driving Rave-Up With The Dandy Warhol's Sixteen Minutes" and they have some killer white noise. The rest of the album is held captive to the overall Brit Invasion feel - sunny, light, and poppy. This annoyed me at first, but grew on me like a polynidal cyst each listen thereafter. It is bright and easy on the ears, lending itself to repetition and humming along - which pretty much assures The Dandy Warhols of a happy future on alternative rock radio stations. In the future, everyone will love The Dandy Warhols.

I love The Dandy Warhols

{Reviewer's tangent] I though Zia, the bass player (although the only instrument she is ever shown holding is a tambourine) was a babe. Much to my delight she is featured often and prominently in the CD booklet - naked and oh so nublie. Although I'm certainly not complaining, I must wonder why the only naked Dandy is the female. C'mon all ye Mick wannabes. Take off yer furry coats, wipe off your sneers, and party naked. After all, wouldn't Mick?
