Il cantante e chitarrista Courtney Taylor ha iniziato suonando la batteria in una glam band chiamata Beauty Stab prima di formare i Dandy Warhols a Portland, Oregon, nei primi anni ''90. Ha chiamato alle tastiere Zia McCabe, il chitarrista Holmstrom ed il batterista Eric Hedford, e registrano un album chiamato Dandy''s Rule, OK? per la Tim/Kerr Records. I tours con Electrafixion ed i Love and Rockets li portano ad essere conosciuti come i nuovi ispiratori della Brit Invasion pop; la Capitol li mette sotto contratto nel 1996. Il primo album con la nuova etichetta discografica è The Dandy Warhols Come Down, e viene realizzato nell''estate del 1997. L''anno seguente esce l''Ep Every Day Should Be A Holiday seguito dal recente album Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia da cui è tratto il video della canzone Godless, che possiamo vedere oggi grazie al sito launch.com
