In a nutshell: The Dandy Warhols return with their fifth album, but what can we expect from this experimental four-piece? Another synth odyssey like 2003’s Welcome To The Monkey House, or will they move in a new direction?

What’s it like? Good news for those who weren’t really loving Monkey House, this new album is a return to more familiar territory. But this being The Dandies, they embrace some pretty eclectic sounds everything from country and western and psychedelia, to bluesy rock and synth-pop. And it’s not unusual for them to combine all these influences in the same song.

How many good tracks? Ten, out of 12.

Best track: All The Money Or The Simple Life Honey is classic Dandies.

Worst track: The spaced-out I Need A Loan we actually thought the CD player had gone crazy and was playing the disc backwards.

Verdict: In theory, the Dandies’ mash-up of crazy sounds and different musical influences shouldn’t really work, but somehow they manage to pull it off to great effect.
